Visitors/Weekend Photo Dump

Carol here ~

Summer has arrived!  What a gorgeous weekend!

We had visitors ~ on Thursday Dan's brother Greg stopped in for a quick visit.  (didn't get a pic)  Greg spends most of his time traveling around the country in his camper van.

On Friday our friends Michelle and Stephen came by.  We enjoyed visiting on the front patio and lunch at the picnic table.  So good to see them!

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~

What happened to the weather? I fell asleep and woke up back in early spring not almost summer. Nice walking though. Saw this girl on my walk on Sunday.

I’ve seen deer quite often lately. There are way too many of them running around but that is a discussion for somewhere else.

Got Pollen?

Carol here ~

News Center Maine Facebook post the other day:

Forecast today: Sunny with a 100% chance of a pollen storm in Maine.

Wowsers!  It has been bad.  This is a photo of the pond, you can see the pollen in the air at the other end.

Dan's Rambling's

Dan here ~

Beautiful weekend, went to Rangeley for oldest grandson Evan’s graduation from high school.

A nice ceremony and a reminder what a small town we chose to spend most of our lives. The joys of knowing most of those around you. Or at least in most cases who their parents are.

One of the traditions they observe is passing out roses to parents, grands and in some cases aunts and friends etc. Here is the two that Carol and I received.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~

It’s been good walking weather. Not too hot…yet. Total milage for the year just over 925 miles as of last Friday. There is still a long way to go, but half the year to do it. Time will tell.

What little I had to plant is about complete. I lost a couple cucumbers but don’t think that it will matter. Tomatoes are growing, I’ve had to train them with the rope or string to hold them up. Everything is at the “grow dammit” stage. It’s planted, I water daily and fertilizer everything weekly and hope for the best.

The lady slippers are beginning to fade. They were pretty while they lasted and we will continue to enjoy them until they disappear until next season.

Kailey's Birthday

Carol here ~

We went to Lucas and Vanessa's yesterday to celebrate Kailey's birthday.  Vanessa is an awesome baker.  This is the cake she made, it's called Stroopwafel Cake.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~

Beautiful evening last night. Just about dead calm. I went out in the kayak and rescued Bob (more about Bob here) and tried to get some pictures of the plantings to show you.

That was the second time I have pulled Bob out of the brush along the shore since I talked at you last. I don’t think I’ve kayaked when it was as calm this season. Not as hard on my arms, nice ride.

The flower boxes along the front retaining wall are looking nice. They will get their first hit of fertilizer on Sunday. Basically, anything that gets watered on Sundays here, gets hand watered from a watering can and gets fertilizer. That way I can remember, Sunday equals hand watering and fertilizer. Works for me.

This and That

Carol here ~

We've had a couple people ask if tickets are still available for the Maine Quilts Raffle Quilt.  Yes, they are.  You can refer to our previous post here to see how to purchase the tickets OR you can always get them at the show if you plan to attend.

Quilts and a Recipe

Carol here ~  I've had a couple good out front patio binding sessions this week. I finished up 2024-3 earlier in the week 2024-3 and 202...
