We are the former owners of Perkins Plumbing (38 years), Threads Galore Quilt Shop (23 years), Quilt Inn Rangeley Retreat Center (16 years) and Fall Quilt Camps (18 years), located in Rangeley Maine. We closed the shop and retired in May of 2019, sold our house in June, sold the retreat center in November and passed on our Annual Fall Quilt Camp event to our good friend Michelle Hiatt of Sew On The Go.
Upon retirement we moved to family property on Green Pond in Oxford, Maine. Purchased in 1934 by Carol’s grandmother Lena Cushman, Carol’s mother, Avis, spent all of her summers here and married Carol’s dad, Stan, here in 1952. Carol and her two sisters grew up spending their summers here on the pond as well, enjoying the sun, sand and spring fed water of Green Pond. (in fact, Dan & Carol met here at the pond when they were 13 years old!) In the mid 1980’s Carol’s parents tore down the original camp and re-built a year round log home (their pride and joy) where they spent the rest of their days watching over the pond. Now we hope to do the same.
We are award winning quilters, our quilts have been displayed at shows around the country. Dan has been designing and piecing for 25+ years, Carol has been piecing for 30+ years and longarming since 1996. Prior to 2018 all quilting was done freehand. In 2018 we added the Navigator Computer system to our Innova longarm ~ we are now able to offer quality Digitized Edge-to-Edge (all over) quilting services. Click here for more info.
We plan to use this blog as a personal journal of our life here on the pond, our quilting, our family and whatever else seems important to document.
Thank you for visiting. We hope you stop by again soon. You are welcome to subscribe to this blog and receive notifications of new posts by email.
