The Maine Quilts 2022 Raffle Quilt is “Always A Way", an original design created by me. This quilt measures 82”x101”. I designed and pieced the quilt, Carol quilted this one-of-a-kind quilt using free motion machine quilting.

As many of you already know, Carol and I exhibited quilts in a variety of quilt shows and have for many years. Some years we each would have a quilt that we had designed and pieced. All, however, were quilted by Carol.
I designed “Always A Way” with the intention of making it difficult to find my block. By keeping the color in the blocks away from the corners and placing the blocks on point I accomplished this. Carol then accentuated this with her quilting building on the illusion.
While hanging in shows it was fun to see people trying to find the block. Most had a hard time.
I called the top “Always a Way” because no matter what I tried on the borders I could not get the math to come out and get the same look on both the top and sides. I solved this with the addition of the small squares added between the corner beam blocks in the center of the long sides.
Problem solved, demonstrating that there’s “Always a Way”.
This quilt has been awarded several awards, including: Machine Quilter’s Expo: Honorable Mention; Vermont Quilt Festival: Blue Ribbon, Best Machine Quilting on a Longarm; and Maine Quilts, Blue Ribbon.
When Carol and I were approached by Pine Tree Quilters Guild and asked if we would donate a quilt for this years raffle, this is the one we decided to donate. As most of them are, this is one of my favorites. Carol’s quilting is over the top.
If you would like a chance to win this beautiful quilt, tickets are a book of 6 for $5.

The drawing will be held on July 30 at Maine Quilts.
Please send a check made out to PTQG along with the number of books you would like to Dan Perkins, 32 Memory Lane, Oxford, Maine 04270. Please include the appropriate number of address labels and a SASE if you would like your ticket stubs returned to you. Also include your phone number. (please do not send cash)
I will request a block of tickets to handle your requests as soon as I get an idea of how many I need. So expect a little delay getting your stubs returned if you thought you needed them sent to you. We would very much like to be requesting a large block of tickets.
So if you have ever desired a custom quilt created by Carol and I now is your chance. To be honest I guess probably not your only chance as I’m sure that I will bring it up again in future blogs between now and then.
Enjoy your weekend, stay safe. Spring is coming, the days are getting longer. Warmer weather will get here eventually.
