For years at Threads Galore Quilt shop we had what we called Fall Quilt Camps. These were weekend long quilt retreats. They grew longer than weekends, but that is another story.

TBT ~ The Piano/Coat Rack

If you are on my personal Facebook page then you have already heard the old piano story as I posted about it last winter. It’s a good story ~ thought it worth repeating.

This piano (circa 1895) was always in our camp that belonged to my Grandmother Lena Cushman here on Green Pond.

When we were quilt shop owners we would close the shop down for the month of March to take a breather and enjoy some vacation time.

Some years we would visit our daughter and family when they were stationed in Maryland and then Virginia. For several years we traveled to Jekyll Island GA, one of the Golden Isles of Georgia barrier islands.

We rented a Villa right on the beach on the East side of the island. We walked the beach (miles of it) when the tide was low and stitched away when the tide was high.

Yep, we brought our sewing machines and kits we had made up before we left home. We pieced shop samples, pattern samples and sometimes show quilts while we were there.

TBT ~ A Year of Quilts

On this last day of 2020, I thought I would show you all the quilts we (mostly) completed in 2020.  Some of them were already pieced and just needed quilting and some of them (all of Dan's 'Rona Collection) were pieced and quilted this year.

I walk a lot. I used to to say I needed to get a dog so I didn’t look so weird always out walking, regardless the weather. Good thing I did not get one then, one of us would have to go now. Ain’t room for us both.

Anyway, when we lived in Rangeley I walked around the downtown streets and would repeatedly go by the Episcopal church on Main Street. This time of year I would look at the nativity scene as I walked by and would kinda chuckle almost guiltily on some zero degree days ~ ”damn, that little dude looks cold” and got to thinking, (cause face it walking alone there is a lot of head time), I think I’ll make him a quilt.

So I started in. Of course in my head little dude equals little quilt which translates into small pieces. After about 14 hours I had produced this.
