Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~

Hopefully you are having a safe Memorial weekend. The pond was lovely Sunday evening.

The weather has been great albeit a bit windy at times. I guess not windy enough to keep the black flies away from me. My neck is a mass of bites and itch something awful whenever I think about it. It seems that there are bugs and insects everywhere. Inside and out, more out for sure.

The Best Laid Plans

Carol here ~

Remember I told you about our granddaughter Kailey's artwork was accepted to hang in the Maine Capital Complex in Augusta?  If you missed that post you can read it here.

This past Wednesday they were having a reception for the students that had their art selected.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~

The weather is still riding the roller coaster but seems like warmer low temperatures are headed our way. This was my view out the studio window last night.

After tomorrow I no longer see 40’s in the low temp forecast. This means planting time. Not that the prospect will take a lot of time at this stage of my life.

The Weekend

Carol here ~

What a gorgeous weekend!  There was just enough of a breeze to keep those wee pesky bugs away.

My feet were in desperate need of some TLC so Saturday morning I went to get a pedicure.  When I got home we got our walk in then I spent most of the afternoon sitting on the front patio reading and working on a binding.

There were a bunch next door with lots of young kids, they were having a ball in the water and on the beach.  BRRR, I think the water is still pretty cold but they didn't mind at all.  I suppose we were the same way at that age....don't think I can remember back that far!

Dan's Ramblings ~ Spring Flowers

Dan here ~

Trying to survive the weather roller coaster of a spring we are having this year. First a couple of uncharacteristically warm days, then much cooler windy days with warmer weather in the future. Spring in Maine.

Carol talked to you last time about her love of the greens of spring. Anyone that knows me at all, knows that I am a flower child, and spring begins the season of color. I found these little purple ones the other day I believe they are called Gaywings.

Green!

 Carol here ~

I love all the different shades of green that spring brings as the trees start to leaf out and flowers begin to bloom.  Everything looks so fresh and bright.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~

What a nice day yesterday was, dare I say it, almost too hot. I guess we have more coming. Time for it anyway. Will need to walk earlier in the day before it warms up too much.

We had a visitor the other day, an otter came to visit. I think it wanted to cross over to Mud Pond but the beach it had to cross smelt too much like the neighbor’s dog. Pretty animal, fun to watch.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~

Nice weekend, not incredibly windy, but a breeze most of the time. Cold start but it warmed up nicely. Youngest daughter Erin arrived Saturday night and stayed until Sunday afternoon. Carol and Erin went for a kayak ride on Saturday, I went with her on Sunday.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here,

Yesterday was a beautiful day, I hope it proves to be a trend towards warmer weather. My view out the window of the studio last night.

Truth be told, the temperatures have not been too bad, the problem has been the wind. Get out of the wind and it feels rather warm. The wind finally let up enough on Sunday to rake up the beach, it won’t last, but at least the waves can’t bury the debris. It wouldn’t take too many years of neglect before the beach would be disappear. It has already happened on one end of the beach.

Quilts and a Recipe

Carol here ~  I've had a couple good out front patio binding sessions this week. I finished up 2024-3 earlier in the week 2024-3 and 202...
