This and That

Carol here ~

I knew we shouldn't have put the kayaks away last week as this is how the pond has looked since Friday.

So nice out!

Dan said he would get mine back out again if I wanted.  I guess not as I don't want to clean it up again.

I got a quilt loaded on Lena Longarm last week.  This is a Hunter Star from way back, don't know when or why it was made but figured I might as well get it finished.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~

No fire tonight, way too windy. The wind is surely wreaking havoc on the remaining leaves. I am so very impressed at how many of the dang things there are. They come in all sizes from little ones to great big ones.

This a picture of the road going down the less traveled side of the pond. I’m glad I don’t have to rake these.

The Weekend

Carol here ~

When we were quilt shop owners we hosted Fall Quilt Camps for eighteen years.  We closed the shop, retired and passed on this event to our good friend Michelle Hiatt of Sew On The Go.

This past weekend was Quilt Camp Weekend so we went to Rangeley for a visit.  It was fun to see everyone and check out the projects they were working on.

The event is held at the Rangeley Inn. Here are a few pics I took.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~

Sunday evening, you guessed it, out by the fire. It was a beautiful day and a lovely evening. No real great sunset but a really great day. Spent the day moving leaves off the beach and relocating them up into the woods. We also managed to get the swim float up on the beach and out of the way. We then moved the neighbors float up further onto the beach so I can more easily get at the leaves as they continue to float in towards shore.

I bought a new tool today, I will be honest as I don’t know for sure what the tool is supposed to be for.

New Glasses

Carol here ~

This has been a week of appointments.  Yesterday's was eye appointments for both of us at 5:00 pm.

What a dumb time for an appointment.  I'm ready for my jammies by then!

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~

Sitting by the fire Sunday evening with Carol. She is reading, I am rambling. It is a beautiful evening and the fire sitting got an early start. We went to Gorham and took Erin and her boys to an early supper. Today was parents day so Erin and Parker went to visit with and see Evan at the University.

We had a nice meal and visit, got home and fire was keeping us warm before it was even dark. The sunset was quite lovely, pretty pink and the pond was dead calm giving a pretty reflection.

This and That

Carol here ~

These pictures from 2009 popped up on my Facebook memories the other day.  Vanessa and Lucas were living in Maryland as that is where Lucas was stationed. (Navy) Vanessa and Kailey flew home for a few days to visit.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~

Tuesday evening, nice evening out by the fire.

Well, I got my tractor on Monday. Carol took some pictures of it and me out on the beach.

It worked quite well and once I got the leaves out of the pond, Carol drove the tractor and I filled up the bucket.

Around The Pond

Carol here ~

What a glorious day yesterday ~ temps in the low 70's, not a cloud in the sky or a ripple on the pond.  Love, love these bonus days we get in the fall!

Today's post is mostly pics as I take you around the pond on our walk and our kayak ride.

Enjoy!

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~

Lovely evening, not too cold and very little wind. My kind of a fall evening. And the best part… no mosquitoes. I must say I go through a lot of wood this time of year. The fire is no longer for ambiance it’s for heat. My view this evening as the suns setting was quite nice.

A New Shawl and Apple Picking

Carol here ~

Daughter Vanessa is a fabulous knitter.  She collects yarn like us quilters collect fabric.  She even dyes a lot of her own.  Several years ago (2017 maybe?) she knit me this beautiful shawl.

I love it and have used it all the time.  It's the perfect weight to throw over my shoulders when I feel a chill, not cold enough for another layer but just right for a chill.  Sometimes I have it on for just a few minutes.  I use it all year round even in the summer as coming inside to the A/C running from outside feels a bit cold.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~ Thursday evening. It was a nice calm day today. I managed to burn off some of the wood I have been pulling off the pond. Unfor...
