Dan's Ramblings

Dan here,

Sunday evening. I think it’s Sunday evening, I’m having a hard time driving that into my thick skull. I have a hard enough time keeping track of the days during a normal week. Throw a holiday into the week and I’m all confused.

Beautiful afternoon.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here, Thursday, Thanksgiving Evening. I hope you spent the day wherever it was that worked best for you. Many spent the day with family and friends, many had to work and I’m sure many stayed home alone. Wherever you were, I hope you felt blessed and found something to be thankful about.

Carol and I went to our oldest daughter’s home and enjoyed dinner and way too much pie with her family and her Mother-in-law. A wonderful day was enjoyed by all. They only live an hour or so away so not too much time was spent on the road. Traffic was light so not too bad. I could have used a nap after all that I ate, but I got us home.

This morning I was actually out of bed early enough to see a sunrise, or at least the tail end of one.

This and That

Carol here ~

This was me yesterday.

We had to make an unexpected trip to the oncologist so I could get an IV of fluids because I spent most of Monday barfing and was very dehydrated. I have had several of these “episodes” during my treatment, no idea why, they just come on me all of a sudden. I felt OK until early afternoon, then it was all downhill from there. I will tell you one thing ~ I will never be drinking a blueberry smoothie again. Gross.

Dan's Ramblings ~ #20

Dan here, Sunday night, killing time. Our power has been out a while and we have been running off the generator. I had #20 laid out on the floor all ready to put the rows together. I normally do not run the sewing machine when running off the generator. I am afraid of power surges etc. So I have been pinning as much as I can, to be ready when the power does come back on. Then I can sew what I have pinned.

I just heard the generator shut off. I will give it a few minutes to make sure that the power is going to stay on. I was in hopes of getting #20 all together tonight, maybe even getting a start on the border. But alas, I don’t think that will happen. I guess I will go see.

Well I’m back and rather ticked off at myself. I got this much done, one seam to go.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here, Tuesday night. Cold outside today. Spent most of the day raking leaves out of the pond and off the beach. Very tiring project. 21 wheel barrow loads of leaves and I don’t even own a tree or use the beach! Did not finish but I do see the light at the end of the tunnel. That is, unless I wake up tomorrow and find it full again.

I just looked out the window with my high-power flashlight and it appears that the wind is piling up a new assortment of leaves for me to remove. So I guess I will have more to rake out again tomorrow. The end has got to be coming, there does not look like many leaves are still in the trees.

Senior Photos

Carol here ~

Grandson Evan had his senior photos taken by Cat’s Eye Studio of Rangeley. Love them! Back in our day all the senior photos were just head shots and we were all posed the same way. Nowadays, each senior’s photos are more individualized, showing a bit of their personality. Can’t believe he’s a senior!

Here he is during his pre-school graduation.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here, Thursday evening. Another nice but chilly day, not bad for November 11. Vanessa and her two kids came today to help rake up this batch of leaves.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here, in the studio. Working away on #20, that’s a quilt top if you are new. I ain’t a serial killer or something, I talk about dumb stuff and quilting. When you think about it, if it ain’t about quilting, it’s probably is dumb stuff.

I currently have 14 or so blocks done out of 35 needed then I can start the sashing strips etc. I have played with the math and I think I can use the fabric I wanted for the sashing strips and cornerstones. Or should I say I am pretty sure I can choose a Corner Pop 3 unit that will allow me to cut the make up triangles and the Square Squared center units out of the the one yard cut of fabric I have. I will do the math a few more times before I commit.

Flowers and Food

Carol here ~

Dan decided to go up to South Paris last Friday to get us a flower bouquet for our anniversary. He loaded up to go to the Transfer Station as it was on the way. The Transfer Station attendant told him to stay away from Route 26 as there was some Halloween event happening and traffic was stopped/backed up etc. Okay, says he, we will stop at the florist tomorrow on our way to Vanessa’s. Good idea. We get there, it was closed for renovations. No place open on Sunday. So, Monday off he goes to South Paris to get our overdue bouquet.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here, coming to you from the fire on Sunday evening.

After a rainy start today turned into a lovely day. The wind stayed low, supposed to rain during the overnight, but nice tomorrow. I’ll take it. It doesn’t really matter what I want, we all know our weather is controlled by the butterflies in the Orient. I read that on the internet, must be true.

Quilts and a Recipe

Carol here ~  I've had a couple good out front patio binding sessions this week. I finished up 2024-3 earlier in the week 2024-3 and 202...
