This and That

I loaded quilt #12 on Lena the first of the week and got started with the quilting, finished it up yesterday.  Haven't taken it off the frame yet but it's done.

From the studio, been here most of the day. It has been a wet, and rainy day. A good studio day. No sunset tonight foggy and wet.

Gross pollen season has arrived.  Of course it has, I spent the first part of the week washing windows.  Oh well, we had a couple of clear glass days.

We got the swim float out the other day, I was going to go out in the kayak to scrub it up a bit but guess I might as well wait til after the pollen is gone.

From the studio. A little too breezy for a fire tonight. I had a nice one last night. It is a pretty evening anyway. 

I have been doing some planting around the yard. Nothing like the days of old.

We headed up to Young's Greenhouse in South Paris yesterday to get our first batch of flowers.  Dan fills the boxes that go on the edge of the retaining wall with Sunpatiens ~ forty of them!

From the studio. I had a very nice fire last evening, it was dead calm and rather warm out. Evan was here sleeping so my studio was occupied. I was out by the fire most of the night listening to my book.

There was a nice sunset tonight, actually there is most nights if the wind is not blowing too hard.

Ugh.

Ugh. We're sick with nasty colds. Dan started feeling crappy Saturday AM and I joined him later in the day. 

We both spent all of Sunday in bed, Dan was upstairs and I was down. I had a low grade fever most of the day.  I felt better a bit better yesterday, Dan still down for the count. I am glad I have some immune system working.

Pretty sure grandson Evan shared his germs with us.  He was here last Monday, then started coming down with the cold on Wednesday.  Obviously not his fault, he would not have come down if he had known.

In the studio. I could have been by the fire, I was last night, tonight was warm enough but it had been raining off and on so I opted to stay inside and continue working on #12 for 2024.

Much of my time has still been spent cleaning up this past winter’s mess. There is still a great deal more available if I am so inclined. I was reminded last night how fast I can burn the wood on a nice calm evening. 

I was on the way back, headed home with a load of wood I had gathered off the side of Old County Road, and noticed a neighbor out by the road trying to shovel back the gravel that the snow plow guy had pushed up against his stone wall. I told him let me take the truck home and I’ll bring the tractor back and pull much of it back for you. 

I think it’s always a good idea to help out the neighbors when you can.
