Flowers

We headed up to Young's Greenhouse in South Paris yesterday to get our first batch of flowers.  Dan fills the boxes that go on the edge of the retaining wall with Sunpatiens ~ forty of them! 

They thrive in full sun and hot temperatures which they get sitting out there.  They are also pretty low maintenance, don't need to dead head, just water and fertilize.

Dan got them planted yesterday afternoon.  It's starting to look like summer!

We had a humingbird flitting around earlier in the week looking for his usual eating places, don't think he was too happy when he found nothing.  But, not too long after Dan placed the boxes of Sunpatiens out I saw a hummingbird checking them out.

Speaking of hummingbirds, Vanessa and Kailey have some handheld hummingbird feeders.  The hummers come right up to them to feed, so cool!

I got out in the kayak earlier this week, saw these guys hanging on a log at the end of the pond.  Twelve of them.

The water has gone down a bit but still wicked high.

Our loon is back!  He spent most the day yesterday fishing right out in front of the house.

It has been nice enough outside to sit and work on bindings but the black flies are atrocious!  I got bit up pretty bad just going for my walk the other day.
