From the studio. I had a very nice fire last evening, it was dead calm and rather warm out. Evan was here sleeping so my studio was occupied. I was out by the fire most of the night listening to my book.
There was a nice sunset tonight, actually there is most nights if the wind is not blowing too hard.

Last week was rather uneventful as Carol and I took turns to see which one of us was feeling the worse at any given point in time. Much time was spent napping and generally not accomplishing much.
I did notice a bass right up next to the retaining wall.
I guess it was checking out the wall, normally he would not be able to get so close to it. Another evening there was two just hanging out by the wall.
Kinda figured one was warning the other not to swim into it. I guess there are still at least two that survived in the pond over the winter. The way the ducks are so busy earlier in the spring makes you wonder if any are left.
Last Friday we could see the Northern Lights fairly well. While they were hard to see with the naked eye they were visible using the cell phone. Here are a couple of the best I obtained looking up the pond out the studio window.
It was a lot less visible on Saturday, this is the only decent shot I got.
It was rather cool to see.
I have been continuing to clean up debris and am watching the woodpile grow quite large. The leach field has been raked and is ready to mow when needed.
The lawn here at the house will need to be mowed before long also.
In the studio I did manage to get #12 for 2024 completed. I fit it in between naps while I was under the weather and it went together quite well. This one was made from sewing light and darks together, either individually or as strips, then randomly sewing them together and trimming as 2-1/2” finished four patch units. I then randomly sewed 9 four patches together to get 7-1/2” finished nine patch blocks.
I added a border of the yellow/orange with spaced four patches of the same fabric and a dark blue to accent it running around the border. I then decided that the top needed more of the 36 patch blocks after the first border. It will be bound in the blue to tie it all together.
#13 for 2024 is in progress, same idea but with more visual accents thrown in. I’m anxious to see what it looks like.
I think the weather station said something about unsettled weather is on the way. As usual I was not asked what I wanted, so I will take what we get.
Stay safe and enjoy until next time.
