We got all the quilts hung for our exhibit at Maine Quilts yesterday.  We had plenty of help so got them done pretty quickly.

Dessert

Carol here ~

Dan mentioned that he and Erin had picked blueberries and he wasn't sure what he wanted to make with them. Vanessa suggested this recipe ~ Easy Batter Fruit Cobbler.  So, he made it the other day.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~

It rained on Monday, like we never get lately. It was a nice drenching rain.  It would be be nice to have known that it was coming though, but hey, it seems the weather man didn’t either. It was late in the day so I got my walk in.

Tuesday was nice, but it was so bloody windy. Hard to enjoy the day with the wind howling like it was.

Vanessa and her kids came on Tuesday as did Erin. They all went for a swim, Carol included.

This and That

Carol here ~

I have been getting the Rona Quilts washed for the Maine Quilt Show next week.  I think I only have three left to wash.

Most of them have gotten the bathtub wash with Dawn dish detergent.  I have had several "bleeders", not surprising with as many different fabrics as there are in the quilts.  I use a washing method by Vicki Welsh, you can find that info here.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~

Tuesday evening sitting out by the fire. Beautiful sunset (as are a great many here on the pond) it almost looks like I am back in the mountains as I observe the clouds and their reflection in the pond.

Was surprised to get a fire this evening as the forecast for earlier was for major storms. We obtained some needed rain but little else. That is ok though, I don’t like damaging storms.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~

Do you believe that the 4th of of July holiday is over. I hope you had a safe and enjoyable weekend. It was real quiet here at Green Pond but that is how Carol and I like it. The 4th was so windy, there was not much happening on the pond except on the other end which was sheltered from the wind due to the wind direction.

On Tuesday there was very little wind just lots of clouds. Maine weather always changing. We would keep checking the weather app and the predicted time of the rain just kept getting moved later in the day. Never started raining until after 8:00. I’m glad I did not alter my plans due to the weather forecast.

I finally finished my walk after supper last night, got home just as it started raining. I did reach a milestone of 1100 miles last Friday. 1110 actually. I had a real good 53 mile week.

Happy 4th of July!

This picture showed up on my Facebook memories this morn from July 4, 2012 at Green Pond.

Four generations ~ my mom with her three daughters, the grandkids and the great grandkids.  Only one was missing, grandson Kyle.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~

The weather is normal, meaning that it is all over the place. There have been a couple of cooler days of late making walking easier. I have gotten out of bed earlier and had my first walk before I’m usually out of the shower. Makes for a long and possibly productive day.

I have been busy as I mentioned last time raking pine needles off the beach. It truly is a never ending project. I have decided to make matters worse and try to regain the 3-4 feet by about 100 ft of beach that has been lost over the last 20 years. Basically, all it amounts to is to rake and pull out the pine needles that were not raked up and removing the shrubs and vegetation that has grown up in the “new” soil created by the needles. Trust me, mother nature will over grow us real quickly. It is just waiting until we leave so it can take over again.

Jinxed

Carol here ~  Well, I think I jinxed Lena Longarm.  A couple of weeks ago I was thinking to myself that Lena was running so well, hardly eve...
