Good Grief

Carol here ~

Many years ago when I was out on my early morning walk a dog came running out from behind a house and grabbed my arm.  The owner called him and he let go and headed back out around the house.  It was winter.  I had on a thick wool sweater and my parka.  The dog still broke the skin on my arm along with bruising it.  Ever since then I have been very leery of strange dogs and even dogs that I was familiar with if their owner wasn't around.  I am OK if I know the dog and the dog knows me but......lets just say I'm not a dog person.  (nothing against those of you that are, that's just not me)

We'll get back to dogs in a minute.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~

Sunday evening, no fire this evening as the rain has arrived. Quite a bit of rain in the upcoming forecast.

The eagles have been flying around today. I saw them soaring above the pond then head out over the brook. A little later I see an immature eagle munching on a good sized fish over on the side bank. Too far away for snapshot. That one was joined by two adults. Fun to watch. Another adult showed up and for a while I could see four sitting in the trees. I need a more powerful camera. Hmmm. I was amazed at the amount of noise they made as they complained about each other. I don’t think the fourth adult that showed up was all that welcome at their little gathering.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~

Sunday evening, sitting by the fire.

It was supposed to be a cloudy day, but it turned out to be quite nice.

Finally!

Carol here ~

We finally got a warm, sunny day with no wind!  I sat outside working on the binding for 2023-14 while absorbing some much needed Vitamin D.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~

Sunday evening. I rambled at you last on this past Friday, by the end of the day the ice was out of the pond. It was quite a surprise how quickly it disappeared. The wind was blowing incredibly hard and it just kind kept overlapping the leading edge of the ice, and in a couple hours pushed it all down to our end of the pond. The snow has not all melted on the beach but the ice is gone. I was also surprised that the water level is just about where it was when the pond froze last fall. I thought it would come up higher. The debris has already begun to arrive.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan again ~

Thursday evening. Today was quite the odd day. This AM Carol wanted to print something but received a pop-up menu on her computer telling her that pop-ups needed to be approved to allow her to print from the page she needed to print. (sounds like a mouthful, but read it slow it makes sense) Well, normally this means I just need to access the virus software and turn the blocker off. Well, I couldn’t find it. I asked Siri, she had no luck either, I find that she isn’t always that helpful, but she tries.

Anyway, I find the web page and log in and ask them what is going on. They inform me that during some upgrades it must have gotten deleted. Whatever, I download software again and get it all activated and set up.

Long story, shortened a little, the tech highly recommended the premium program to get remote access to completely clean up the performance of my Mac. I said ok as we had been trying to figure out how to get someone to come here to do the same thing anyway. This way I can get it all to happen from home. He told me the process could take 3 hours did I want to go ahead? I said sure and 7 hours later we were complete.

Monday Memories

Carol here ~

In April of 2019 I was working on this quilt ~ MOONLIGHT GARDEN ~ designed by Michelle Hiatt of Sew On The Go.

This was all custom quilted, free motion with the use of rulers when needed, by me.

Dan's Ramblings

Dan here ~ Thursday evening. It was a nice calm day today. I managed to burn off some of the wood I have been pulling off the pond. Unfor...
