Monday evening, after a very cold wet rainy day. Did not much like it. I do not like the cold, well actually that may not be completely true. More truthfully I don’t like to be cold. I guess I better get used to it rather quickly. I have an idea it will get colder before it warms up again.

Today is Carol and my anniversary. 52 years if you can believe that. We went out to an early supper so I didn’t have to cook. It was good, just way too salty. 

On the way home, well into twilight, I could not believe the number of idiots who did not have their lights on. Twilight is a dangerous time of day to see much anyway, even more so without turning on your lights so others can see you. As we all know there are lot of clueless people that surround us. Watch out for them.

Monday evening, up in the quilting loft. 

I was real tempted to have a fire tonight, I know that my fire times are limited. I got chilled going out to tend the burgers for supper. It’s almost getting too cold to grill. The grill works extremely hard to get up to a nice hot temperature. I guess I miss the old sizzle you got when you put your burger on the old charcoal grill. Don’t miss the constant buying of charcoal but miss the hot fire. I am thinking that a change may be in store for next season if a grill is still needed.

Not to sound monotonous but most of my day was spent on the beach. Here is what it looked like as I started.

We had a most beautiful double rainbow the other day.  It lasted a long time, usually they come and go pretty quickly.

Monday evening. No fire tonight, too wet and too cold. Chilly, rainy day today. It was a wonderful day to sit by the soccer field and watch Parker play. 

It was so wet I fail to see how no one got hurt. On one play Parker slid right through the legs of a member of the opposing team. I sure wish I had taken a picture of that. Carol did manage to get some action shots.

A Busy Week

I've had a busy and fairly productive week.

I loaded Dan's quilt #21 for 2023 onto Lena, got it quilted and the binding stitched to the front.

I used the digital pattern MODERN SQUARES.

I also loaded quilt #22 onto Lena and got it quilted.  I found backings for #24 and #25 after looking all over for quilt #23 until we finally realized that is the one we made for Erin's music friend's baby.

I started turning the binding on #21 and stitching it down by hand thinking I would finish it up yesterday.

Monday evening. 

I heard tell that today was a holiday, being retired they all kind of are. But happy whatever it was day. 

I spent a portion of the day doing what is rapidly becoming a daily occurrence. Raking the beach. I can now finally get along the right end of the beach because the water has finally gone down enough. Took forever, let’s hope it continues. On September 8, I put a stake in the ground at the water line. We have watched the water recede 18”, then after the rain associated with the hurricane, it came back up to the stake again. It’s gone down again and is about 4’ out from the stake currently. Another 4-6’ would be nice.

We are starting to see some color around the pond.  

We have been taking advantage of these beautiful fall days to get kayak paddles in.  Most days in the last couple of weeks there has been absolutely no wind, the pond has been like glass resulting in some amazing reflections.

Monday evening, capping off a beautiful day sitting by the fire and marveling at the calm evening. 

It was a truly wonderful fall day. My memories on Facebook for this day last year showed me saying that my flowers had all been pulled and my little gnome friends put into storage for the winter. Not so this year.
