Sunday evening. Real nice day today, it could have been a wee bit warmer, but at least it wasn’t raining. A lazy day, I brought two loads down to the woodbox and did a little weeding. Oh and I took a nap. That about summed up my day. I did have a fire this evening after the wind finally died down. The upcoming forecast does not look that great unless you like cool temperatures and rain. Not my favorite weather format. I guess what it is.
The surprise Eli quilt has been gifted. If you remember this was a quilt that was requested for a friend of Granddaughter Kailey who will be spending the upcoming school year in Germany. As mentioned in an earlier blog, the friends picked out fabric and I was requested to design a quilt around the fabric choices.
I pondered the project as I completed whatever it was I was creating at the time, and came up with the idea of a sampler type of quilt top. This is what I came up with.
The back was pieced from the fabric that Eli’s mother had chosen, along with some of the kid’s fabrics to make it large enough to make it work.
Carol made a pillow case out of the fabric Eli chose to go along with and to hold the quilt. I think he was pleased.
I am continuing to plug away on the current project making 6” finished blocks using various scraps.
I think I need 70 blocks which means I still need a few more before I begin to decide how I will assemble the top. Scraps are being used, I know that. If only I was not obsessed with small pieces the process may move along faster. I keep reminding myself it is not a race.
Enjoy your start of the week. Keep smiling regardless the weather. The sun will come out eventually. Even Naamah believed Noah that it would stop raining after 40 days and nights. I need to see the beach out front grow and this requires a reduction in rainy days. Let us hope that happens. Enjoy anyway.
