Carol here ~
I know Dan has mentioned that our Climate Controlled Storage Shed where we had all our quilts was not so climate controlled. It was starting to smell musty which means some of our quilts were also smelling musty. That is when Dan moved them all to our storage shed up on the hill.
I decided it was time to sort through, wash, organize, photograph and document the size and type of batting used for each quilt. Luckily, I was pretty good at keeping records back in the day ~ batting used, thread color, quilting pattern, hours spent quilting, etc.
I started with the large quilts which entailed a bit of pawing around because they were not all together. But! I am finding quilts I had forgotten about and didn't know we still had.I thought I would share with you all ~ some of you may recognize some of the quilts and some of you have probably never seen any of them. All of them are quilted by me, many are free motion as I did not have my Lena Longarm and her computer yet. So here we go, these are the ones that have been washed so far...
This is a traditional Log Cabin, @89x102, Hobbs Heirloom Batting, Pieced by Dan, Custom Free Motion Quilted by me.
This one is called Rock, Paper, Scissors @ 88x102, Quilter's Dream Request Batting, digitized quilting (not sure of the pattern) I think this was a Mystery Quilt that had several variations of how it could be put together.
Up next is Rangeley Stars, pattern by Studio 180 Design, @84x102, Quilter's Dream Blend batting, pieced and quilted by me, free motion loops and leaves.
Here is Hunter Star @89x104, Quilter's Blend Batting, Pieced by Dan, Custom Free Motion Quilted by me.
Here is a scrappy one, Sashing Strips Will Make You A Star. Designed, pieced AND QUILTED by Dan! @82x94, Hobbs Wool Batting.
He received a red ribbon at Maine Quilts for this one.
Next is In Flight, pattern by Michelle Renee Hiatt of Sew On The Go, @88x88, Hobbs Heirloom batting. Pieced by Dan, free motion machine quilted by me ~ I call this quilting my fancy ass feathers! There is a mini of this pattern somewhere, we haven't found it yet.
Last one for today ~ Bands of Glory, pattern by Studio 180 Design @ 88x107, Hobbs Wool Batting. Pieced by Dan, Digitized quilting pattern Spring Flowers by me (and Lena)
Stay tuned, I'll have more to show you next time!
As you can see we have many more quilts than we have need for. Most all of them are available for purchase along with all of those Dan is doing now. If you are interested in any of them, let us know. Thanks!
