Thursday evening. Labor Day is this weekend if you can believe that. I am finding it difficult, I have no idea where this summer has gone.
The two graduated seniors are ensconced in their respective dorm environments, Kailey at MECA in Portland and Parker at Bates in Lewiston. Evan returns to his dorm at USM this weekend as well. New adventures for them all.

I sold a bunch of wood from the woodpile and have started rearranging the mess it made as portions fell over so I am re-stacking to make the pile look better. I may have to get out and find some more at some point.
I also sold my Goldwing tricycle.
It was a 1990 with a lot of miles ridden and many memories left with it as it rode away. The bike was originally Carol’s fathers. He bought it new in 1993.
I bought it after he passed away and between riding on two or later on three wheels, put almost 50,000 miles on it.
No real place to store it now and usually the dirt road is too rough anyway. We figured it was time.
In the studio a lot has happened since I rambled last. #23 for 2025 is complete.
In this one I played with a border fabric I’ve used before. I found fussy cutting worked well to get block centers and then used it in a zig zag pattern down the quilt for the sashing. Nine inch blocks went quickly in this simple star pattern.
#24 for 2025 is also complete this one was made using 2-1/2” units for 7-1/2” blocks.
This one is slightly smaller than normal at 60” x 72”. I used up a stack of 3” squares by using them in the corners of all the blocks. I then framed the blocks in lavender or purple to bring them to a 9” block. I then used a 2-1/2” sashing with a pattern of two colored stars.
#25 for 2025 is also complete.
This time I used 4-1/2” blocks made from four patches, pinwheels, more of the bar units I used a bit ago and a stack of nine patches left over from a previous project when I must have taken a detour and did not need them at the time. I placed a 1” sashing between them and set them in blocks of four as 10” finished blocks. I again used a 2-1/2” sashing with a pattern of slightly different stars. I first popped with my Corner Pop III at 6 then popped again with my Corner Pop II at 3 and replaced with the blue. I was pleased with the results. I will probably do again where the stars will jump out better.
Enjoy the holiday weekend, watch out if traveling as the roads are full of crazy drivers. Stay safe until next time.
