Thursday evening. It was a beautiful, clear day today with the best thing being there was very little wind. It’s windy again now, but most of the day was crisp but sunny. Vanessa and the grands stopped by for a visit this afternoon. We all went for a snowshoe walk on Mud pond. I think I wimped out first with Kailey then Jakob following along behind her. I was beginning to wonder about Carol and Nessa as they went for a long walk. All made it back fine, though a little tired.
The sunset had a little color to it tonight.
The recent snow storms have kept me somewhat busy relocating snow. Fortunately, the storms have brought light fluffy snow. I am quite sure that will change before we get to spring. The wind also assists in the snow relocation process, but unfortunately drifts it back across the driveway rather than blowing it out of the way. I had to be careful blowing back bankings after the last storm as I was almost out of shear pins for the auger on the blower. Ten came in the mail today, hopefully a couple years supply. If it is real cold when they break it can be a lot of fun replacing them. No real snow in the near future so I should be fine. Time will tell.
I finished quilt #6 for 2025 Tuesday morning. For the blocks I went with a 10” finished block and a 2" sashing. The blocks were all somewhat the same in their creation so I calmed down the sashing strips to allow the colors in the blocks to shine through. I think it worked out just fine. I used my Diamond Rect tool to get the diamonds in the center of the sashing and went with a simple Square 2 Corner stone.
#7 is well on the way using up some rather ugly 3” x 6” finished blocks I found in the bottom of a bin. I think I found a way to use them up. If it doesn’t work as planned then maybe I will have achieved my goal of an ugly quilt. I kinda doubt it though. The sashing strips seem to be pulling it together just fine. You’ll see it on here next time I’m sure.
It’s supposed to be a somewhat decent weekend and after the last couple, I for one, welcome it. It is just about light late enough to utilize the grill for cooking supper. It will depend more now on the wind and air temps than it being too dark. It just may happen real soon.
Stay safe and enjoy your weekend, we are one week closer to spring than last week and that is a good thing. Until next time.
