Thursday evening. If anything happened over the last week I guessed I erred by not writing it down. The weather was cold, wet, windy, sunny and warm. Normal spring weather.
It must be getting warmer, at least a little. The beard went the other day along with getting a spring haircut before the black flies get here. I always hate getting a haircut when my neck is covered with bug bites. I also hate hairs blowing around so you think something, or someone, is in your hair.

I puttered in the woods a little on the good days. I don’t seem to have the energy I used to. Very frustrating for someone that never learned how to do nothing. I think I got that from my Dad. I have said many times that my father taught me a lot but never taught me how to do nothing well. Maybe someday I’ll figure it out, time will tell. I doubt it will be by choice.
I had a visitor the other night telling us we need to drastically cut back on the feeding of the birds.
I had a visitor the other night telling us we need to drastically cut back on the feeding of the birds.
I have removed two of the feeders and moved the suet cages higher up and hopefully out of reach. The birds have not been terribly impressed with the reduction of available seeds. We have several mourning dove pairs that hang out and feed. We enjoy watching them.
In the studio I have been continuing with quilt #23 for 2026. I ran into some design issues. I finished the parts and pieces and laid the top out on the floor……. And did not like it.
I feel that the cream color I used for the frame on the blocks causes the stars to blend too much and not pop out as I had hoped. I have put the blocks aside for another top and am making 42 different ones and framing them with a different color. Hopefully, I will like it better. I’m almost ready for a layout again but need to save time to get ready for my Flying Geese class on Saturday. Hopefully I will have time for both.
So until next time, stay safe and enjoy spring and all it has to offer. Still no black flies….yet.
