Thursday evening. Had a fire tonight as it was a pleasant evening sitting out by the fire. Tonight's sunset was not overly great but I do think it tried.
Many of you know by now I prefer the shot after sunset better. I don’t really know why.
There are more of the leaves changing daily. I know they are pretty but that just means I can complain about the leaves on the beach before too long. It’s nice I can get warmed up before snow removal arrives. I jump ahead.
We have been enjoying a pleasant early fall with warm weather and no rain in sight. We could certainly use some rain as the pond is quite low. It would be nice to see fall rains bring the shoreline 3-4 feet up the beach before the snow and ice arrive. Time will tell.
The large planter by the driveway has been altered for the fall.

Most of the flowers were removed and mums planted in their place. I did leave the tomato that is producing quite well now. It grew on its own. They still taste good. I gave a dixie cup full to the little boy next door and he dove into them like M&M’s. It was fun to watch. I told him I’d get him some more tomorrow.
Carol has been telling you about the quilts we have been pulling out of storage and either airing out or washing first then airing out. I'll let her continue telling you about them. It’s been fun seeing them again, to be honest, with some it would take me a while to figure out how I pieced them. But I guess that is ok, I never intended to make them again anyway. A lot of those I’m doing now it takes a few minutes to remember how I pieced them. Thankfully I am seldom asked anymore after people accepted I’m not a pattern writer.
With that in mind #27 for 2025 is complete (my part).
I went with 8” Finished blocks this time. 2” F sashing. I decided on stars using 2”x 4” Flying Geese. That gave me a 4”F square in the middle that I could fill in with whatever grouping I had of 2” F units. Having many 2” units to choose from, I began arranging them in as many variations as I could think of. In my eyes the blocks are space fillers. It has almost always been all about the sashing strips. That is where the unexpected spark comes from. With this one the fabrics I chose did not cause the pattern of the sashing strips to jump out. I’ll do better another time. I liked the outcome and am pleased with the results.
The weather is in a warm dry pattern and this weekend looks to be quite nice. Enjoy and stay safe.
