Carol here ~
Lena Longarm is misbehavin'. I mentioned last week that her tension was not consistent and I had to keep adjusting it. That never happens, I usually finish up one quilt, load another and keep on going with no tension adjustment necessary. I remembered that last time this happened I needed to replace the check spring. The check spring regulates the thread tension and stitch formation to maintain consistent pressure as the needle moves. A worn spring leads to broken threads, skipped stitches, uneven tension and lots of snaggles, top and bottom.
Ugh. Definitely what's happening. That snaggle was just a few seconds in the making.
I had quilt 2025-35 loaded on Lena and really wanted to finish quilting it before I even thought of replacing the check spring. After many thread breaks, etc I finally finished quilting it.

I decided both Lena and I needed a time out. Replacing the check spring is a chore Dan and I are not proficient at at all and at the moment I don't even want to think about it. Plus I am out of batting and can't quilt any more until my order comes in so to heck with it.
Guess I will spend some time pulling all the containers out from under Lena and getting rid of dust bunnies.
Grand Parker's birthday was last week so he and his girlfriend Avery came over for lunch on Friday. He requested his favorite ~ Nessa's chicken, mashed potatoes, carrots, yeast bread and applesause. I didn't make cake because they were headed to Rangeley for the weekend for chocolate cake made by Erin. We had a great visit, even got a game of Rummikub in.
